From Ordinary to Extraordinary: Gorilla Brothers’ Collinsville Landscaping

Greetings, landscape enthusiasts! We’re thrilled to unveil the stunning transformation of a Collinsville home by Gorilla Brothers. Our team worked wonders in both the front and backyard, creating a personalized oasis for our valued customer.

Front Yard Revitalization

In the front yard, we embarked on a journey to enhance the existing foundation by infusing vibrant colors and customized elements tailored to the homeowners’ preferences. Carefully selecting a variety of plants, we aimed to complement the existing landscape, adding a burst of color and character. Thoughtful plant removals included hydrangeas, boxwoods, grasses, and Nandina, allowing us to de-weed the beds and create a clean canvas for the new design. The introduction of Double Knockout Roses (red), Variegated Abelia, and Dwarf Muhly grass breathed new life into the front yard. Topping off the beds with fresh brown mulch brought a cohesive and inviting atmosphere to the space.

Plant Removal and Installation

To make room for the new design, we bid farewell to existing plants like hydrangeas, boxwoods, grasses, and Nandina. The beds were meticulously de-weeded, creating a pristine canvas.

New additions included:

  • Double Knockout Roses (red)
  • Variegated Abelia
  • Dwarf Muhly grass

The beds were topped off with fresh brown mulch, creating a cohesive and inviting front yard.

BEFORE

Backyard Privacy Redefined

In the backyard, our focus was on privacy and creating a vibrant, low-maintenance landscape. The privacy fence, strategically placed around the pool area, provided a sense of seclusion and enhanced the overall poolside experience. We introduced the captivating 6-foot horizontal privacy fence, skillfully crafted with treated posts and cedar pickets for a touch of elegance. The fence, set in concrete for lasting durability, not only added privacy but also enhanced the overall aesthetic. A well-thought-out pass-through space of approximately 2 feet added functionality without the need for a gate. We replaced large trees with a mix of greenery, including Nellie Stevens Holly, butterfly bushes, Funky Fuchsia Butterfly Bushes, Dwarf Muhly grass, and Brake Light Yucca.

AFTER

Specific Removals and Additions

We cleared weeds and grass from the beds, saying goodbye to Nandina bushes and Spartan Junipers. Existing rock areas were preserved, and Preen granules were applied for effective weed control.

As an added touch, we relocated an existing boulder from the back pool landscape to a new bed location near the horizontal fence. A piece of green metal edging, weed barrier paper, and a flagstone were introduced for enhanced aesthetics. Multipurpose river rock was used to fill new areas, while existing areas received a top-off for a polished finish.
