“His” Bathroom: A Blend of Rustic Charm and Modern Elegance
Our client wanted a bathroom that captured both the warmth of rustic design and the sleekness of modern elements. Here’s how we brought that vision to life:
- Stained Knotty Alder: The rich warmth of stained Knotty Alder wood was used throughout the bathroom, lending an earthy and natural feel to the space. This choice of wood adds depth and character, creating a cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere.
- Wainscoting: To add a touch of timeless elegance, we incorporated wainscoting along the walls. The contrast between the wood and the wainscoting enhances the overall design, giving the bathroom a classic, refined look.
- Cultured Marble: Both the shower and vanity tops feature custom cultured marble. In “his” bathroom, we opted for a design with heavier veining and a glossy texture, adding a luxurious and polished touch. The ability to customize the cultured marble allowed us to perfectly match our client’s desired aesthetic.
- Frameless Glass Shower Door: To maintain a modern and open feel, we installed a sleek frameless glass shower door. This choice not only maximizes the sense of space but also highlights the beautiful cultured marble within the shower.
- Delta “Brilliance Stainless” Fixture: The shower is equipped with a Delta “Brilliance Stainless” fixture, complete with a handwand for added convenience. This high-end fixture complements the overall design and provides a luxurious shower experience.
In the bathroom, we brought together a mix of textures and finishes to create a harmonious and inviting space. The wainscoting is painted in a semigloss finish using Benjamin Moore 1495 “October Mist,” providing a subtle sheen that adds depth to the design. The walls and ceiling are coated in Sherwin-Williams 6434 “Spinach White” with a satin finish, offering a soft contrast that enhances the bathroom’s brightness. Choosing these colors were simplified in the space by utilizing one of our favorite tools, Samplize samples. The vanity and trim are both finished in Minwax “Cherry,” with the vanity boasting a satin finish that gives it a rich, smooth appearance. Finally, the flooring ties the space together with Emser EMCORE “Hylton Ivory,” a choice that complements the overall color palette with its warm, natural tones.
Custom Finishes for a Personalized Touch
One of the standout features of this bathroom remodel is the attention to detail in the finishes. The client’s existing cabinet pulls were incorporated into the new design, adding a rustic and charming quality that ties the space together. These small but impactful details make the bathroom feel uniquely personal and cohesive.
Cultured Marble: Customization at Its Best
The beauty of cultured marble lies in its versatility. In this remodel, both bathrooms received cultured marble for the showers and vanity tops, but each space was tailored with different finishes. In “his” bathroom, the heavier veining and glossy texture create a bold statement, while the other bathroom features a matte finish with lighter veining for a softer, more understated look. This flexibility in design is just one of the many reasons we love working with cultured marble. In this bathroom, the coloring chosen was white with sandbar and a hint of country grey.
