Welcome back, Gorilla Brothers family! Today, we’re thrilled to dive into one of our favorite transformations to date. Join us as we take you through the entire process of converting a dark, cluttered attic into a bright, functional space tailored perfectly for a home office and gym in Owasso.
The Transformation Journey
Our clients in Owasso had an attic filled with old toys, paperwork, and a lot of unused space. They envisioned a bright, organized area for their desk, filing cabinets, and gym equipment. We knew we had our work cut out for us, but we were ready for the challenge.
BEFORE
Step 1: Prepping for Demo
Safety and cleanliness are our top priorities. We started by setting up air filter machines to ensure a dust-free environment during demolition. This helps keep the rest of the home clean and safe while we work.
Step 2: Demolition and Preparation
Next, we removed the window to bring in the sheetrock. It’s all about strategic planning to minimize disruptions and maximize efficiency. With the window out, we could easily maneuver large materials into the attic space.
Step 3: Insulation and Sheetrock Installation
Proper insulation is key for comfort and energy efficiency. We installed high-quality insulation before putting up the sheetrock. This step is crucial in converting an attic into a livable space.
Step 4: Electrical Work
Our electricians installed recessed lights to brighten up the area. Good lighting can transform any space, and these lights added a sleek, modern touch to the attic.
Step 5: Paint and Baseboards
A fresh coat of paint in a light, airy color made a world of difference. We then added baseboards for a polished, finished look. Details like these bring the entire room together.
Step 6: Flooring
New carpet was installed, helping to tamper sound and provide a comfortable surface for both office work and gym activities. The right flooring is essential in creating a multi-functional space. We recommended this carpet from Johnson Floor and Home. The coloring is “Sugar White” and creates a warm and comfortable space.
Step 7: Finishing Touches
We formed a mechanical closet to neatly house all necessary equipment, ensuring the space remains organized and functional.
Step 8: Clean-Up
Our job isn’t complete until the space is spotless. We conducted a thorough clean-up, leaving the attic ready for use.
The Big Reveal
After all the hard work, it’s time for the big reveal! The once dark and dusty attic is now a bright, functional area. The dedicated workspace with a desk and filing cabinets is perfect for productivity, while the gym corner is ready for some serious workouts. The new carpet reduces noise, and the ceiling fan ensures good air circulation, making the space comfortable year-round.
