Oklahoma Native Plants For Your Garden

Choosing plants/flowers for your garden, annual or perennial, can be challenging, especially in Oklahoma!

The state’s scorching summers demand resilient native plants that can withstand intense heat and drought conditions. Among some of our favorite choices are the Black-Eyed Susan (Rudbeckia hirta), renowned for its bright yellow flowers and ability to thrive in various soil types. The Indian Blanket (Gaillardia pulchella) boasts vibrant red and yellow blooms, thriving in dry, sandy soils. The Eastern Redbud (Cercis canadensis) offers both beauty and shade, with its stunning pink flowers and heart-shaped leaves. The Oklahoma Gayfeather (Liatris oklahomensis) is a tall, purple-flowering perennial that can tolerate heat and limited water. These resilient natives provide aesthetic appeal while typically withstanding Oklahoma’s challenging summer conditions.
